bad reciprocal linking advice

"Exchange links and improve your search engine rankings!"

"Only exchange links with similar sites, these links are of more value to your site."

"Make sure you only exchange links with sites who have a Google PR of 4 and above."

"One way links are of much more value to your site than reciprocal links"

"If you want to increase the number of visitors to your website it is crucial that you have a top search engine position."

"Exchange links with any sites you can and increase your traffic."

We are sure you have. This is the reciprocal linking advice being given daily to webmasters by the webs self-proclaimed "Guru's" and "Experts". Some of the above linking advice is only partly true, and some of it is complete nonsense.

What Reciprocal Linking Advice Should I Believe?

Simple, grab a coffee, take a break and read the following pages of this site. We can help you sort out all the conflicting advice. We can show you how to actually bring long term, targeted traffic from your reciprocal links. We can share with you a linking method based on results, not on supposition as to how search engines are currently ordering their results or how they value links.

We will share all this information with you free of charge, but you will need to do some reading. First we will show you why the reciprocal linking advice you have been given to date doesn't work. Then we will show you how to fix it.

Our first piece of advice is STOP LOOKING FOR A QUICK FIX! Unless you have thousands of dollars to spend on advertising, creating regular quality traffic takes a little time and effort on a continuing basis.

There is no such thing as "Quality traffic with no effort" There are many sites out there who will send you 10,000 hits for $30. Were they visitors? No, they were pop unders that were quickly closed.

There are many sites that for $30 will place a link to your site on 10,000 other sites. Don't kid yourself, these are links that will more than likely never be found by a surfer and may well get you blacklisted from search engines.

Again we repeat most of the linking advice you are used to reading is either incomplete or utter nonsense. Furthermore, a lot of it is logically and mathematically flawed.

If you are at the top of the search engines and receiving thousands of free visitors a day, you can stop here, this site is of no use to you. If like 98% of sites on the web you are not, then the above advice, and other advice the "experts" are so keen to share, is not working for you, is it?

What Reciprocal Linking Advice Should I Believe? Exchanging links just for rankings will damage your traffic and your business. Even worse, it is damaging the world wide web! (Details on subsequent pages.)

If you exchange links just for rankings you are throwing away literally thousands of free visitors to your site, spending money you don't have to, and worse, wasting hours and hours of your time.

Question? Do you advertise your reciprocal links section on your site with a tiny text link at the bottom of your page? Have you re-named it to something like "resources" or "partners" hoping your visitors will not see it and leave your site? If so, you REALLY need to read the next few pages of this site.

Here's a shock for you, your visitors will leave your site anyway, whether they buy your product or not, whether they join your membership or not, THEY WILL NOT STAY ON YOUR SITE FOREVER! They ARE leaving. Every page on your site has a little "x" in the top right of the browser that takes them away from your site. Every page on your site has a little "Home" button that takes them away from your site.

Where do they go? They go back to the search engines because they see no links section as an alternative means of surfing on. What do they see when they get back to the search engine? The same old top 10 sites in the search results, the sites of people who either know how to get to the top, or have paid thousands to do so. The sites that rely ONLY on search engines for their traffic. Is your site there in that top 10? If not read on........

We are not advocating that you shouldn't exchange links for rankings, we are saying exchange links for traffic first, and rankings will follow (assuming the advice of the "gurus" and "experts" is correct).

We know you are busy, but we strongly urge you to spend a little time reading the following few pages of Honest Links. They will most likely shock you!

This material is nothing clever, it is pure common sense and logic. Our guess however, is that like many webmasters, you have lost sight of what you are about to read.

A recent newsletter from a well known webmaster portal had the subject line "Reciprocal Linking Is Dead". Let's pretend for a moment they are right (they most definitely are not, but let's pretend) and ask this question:

"Who Killed Reciprocal Linking?"
